‘The Mudlarks: Peking to Paris’ by Jane McMorland Hunter
The start of an amazing series of adventures for the 8-12 group. An unmissable debut that will be enjoyed by young readers everywhere as well as their parents.
The Mudlarks, a family of water voles, and their friends, the Wetland Otters, enter the Peking to Paris Car Rally in a vintage Bentley and a Porsche 356 Speedster.
Also in the rally are two friendly hares from France in a very slow Citroën 2CV and a team of serious Italian pine martens in a very fast Ferrari Daytona. Camels on motorbikes swoop in to help those in trouble, and along the way, our intrepid band of travellers encounter thieves in Kazakhstan, get into trouble in Turkey and uncover a Roman mosaic in Greece. An unexpected extra passenger joins the group, new friendships are forged and an exciting race to the finish culminates in a grand party in Paris with special awards for the competitors.
Illustrated with Sally Hughes’s charming artwork, this deluxe hardback is a brilliant combination of The Wind in the Willows and Around the World in Eighty Days.
A gorgeously gifty hardback with dust jacket and illustrated endpapers.
Packed with facts, humour, adventure and vivid illustration.
